How to Apply

ON FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2014, MACON HOUSING AUTHORITY WILL BEGIN TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE PUBLIC HOUSING WAITING LIST. APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE MHA CENTRAL OFFICE, LOCATED AT 2015 FELTON AVENUE, MACON, GA.

THEREAFTER, APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED ON FRIDAY OF EACH WEEK FROM 8:30 AM TO 4:30 PM. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

AFTER APRIL 18, 2014, IF YOU ARE A PERSON WITH DISABILITIES, YOU MAY CALL 478-752-5000 AND REQUEST THAT AN APPLICATION BE MAILED TO YOU.

The information you provide on your application determines your placement on the waiting list. If you have any changes from the information you provided on your application, you need to come into the office at 2015 Felton Avenue to complete a Change Form so that we can update your application.

Once you have completed your application, the receptionist will review it with you to insure we have the correct size bedroom and preference for your application. You will be given a copy of this application to keep as your proof that you did apply with Macon Housing Authority.

Within 10 days you will receive a letter from Macon Housing Authority verifying receipt of your application and giving you your Application Number. This number is important to keep for reference in checking on the status of your application.

How to Check Your Status on the Waiting List

To check on your application, call 478-752-5000 and have the application number handy. A staff member will use your application number to check the computer and let you know your placement on the waiting list. If you do not have the application number, you may be required to come into the Central Office to complete a Request to Check Status form (this is for your privacy and protection). Once you obtain the status of your application, you will not need to check it again for at least one month. We send out invitation letters only once a month, hence the application status will not change but once a month.

Again, we remind you to notify Macon Housing Authority of any changes in your application by completing a Change Form at our Central Office. Clients are seen by appointment only.
